I am looking for a webhost with a lot of diskspace. At the moment, I need 35 GB space and about 500 GB bandwidth/month.

After some research, I found Hostgator to be most recommended. It offers "unlimited" space and bandwidth, but as nothing can ever be "unlimited", I was doing some further research and found out this Hostgator will remove sites which are using more than 20 GB disk space.

I then found easyCGI: easycgi.com/easycgi/shared-hosting/

For about $8/month, I get 350 GB space and 3,500 GB bandwidth. This sounds great.

However, I wonder if this hosting provider is recommendable.

What do you think?

Oh, by the way, another question: I have a .at domain now, but it was registered by a friend of mine. However, he lives in another country and is hardly ever reachable. I finally got him to give me some account details for a website called "enom.com". It looks like they are maintaining the DNS for my domain. But that’s all I have. Is there anything I have to mind when trying to find a new hosting provider?

huh, makes me pause a bit.

optyx replied: Hostgator actually doesn’t remove sites that are over 20GB in size. The backups exclude accounts with over 20GB of data or 100k inodes. Given the size of the site how much resources are you going to be using? If you have multiple sites or large databases a shared hosting environment may not be the ideal fit for you and may just lead to more headaches.

wpmaster replied: I would recommend you go with a vps server directly for such disk requirement. Although 99% webhosts announce to offer unlimited space, they will limit the usage from their TOS.
