Hosts for unlimited addon domains

In: Web Hosting

Hello,

I am looking for a host to create multiple mini sites on, and am looking for some recommendations. It is important that I am able to get unlimited addon domains.

I need a unique IP address. Shared is also fine; I don’t need dedicated.

Right now I have already looked at the following, and am wondering about options beyond these:

hostgator.com
eukhost.com
hostmonster.com
totalchoicehosting.com
bluehost.com
hawkhost.com
fusednetwork.com
westhost.com

Thank you.

DDT replied: You can’t have a shared and a dedicated IP. If you need the sites on different IP’s they can’t be add-ons. I’m a bit confused by that statement.

But other than not understanding what you mean there most hosts have multi-domain plans and don’t care how many domains you put on there if you have the space (that’s why some multi-plans are higher because as a host we tend to think more domains = need for more disk & bandwidth)

But if these are REAL "mini" sites you could contact any host and ask if you could get a plan that fits your disk/transfer requirements with multi-domains. Most will set you up; like I said they may just not show a plan like that o their offers because they assume with a lot of sites people need the space and bandwidth (and most do).

HostXNow replied: Technically, you wouldn’t be able to host unlimited domains with any of the hosts you listed. When hosts say they offer unlimited addon domains, what they really mean is they just don’t limit them i.e you can add as many addon domains as you like. You can only add so many due to CPU/memory restrictions though. I haven’t had anyone add more than 15 addon domains to their account yet.

Regarding a Dedicated IP address, they usually cost around £24/year.

I have a Dedicated Server with eUKhost. Uptime/performance/support is really good. Not sure what their Shared hosting is like though.

Good Luck

Plexihost replied: I find this a bit confusing as well.

kfreidan, are you needing a dedicated IP for all of the mini-sites or each mini site?

HostXNow replied: By this I think OP just wants a unique (Dedicated) IP address. Shared hosting is fine. A Dedicated Server isn’t needed. Is that right?

Each addon domain would have to use the main accounts IP address. This can be a shared IP address or dedicated IP address. Or you can have a Reseller account and use a unique (Dedicated) IP address for each cPanel account.
