I’m starting a web design business, focusing on WP sites for small businesses. I would like to offer hosting packages for my clients, but I really don’t have the knowledge to deal with many of the technical aspects of hosting.
Are there are any reliable reseller hosting plans that would provide direct customer support to my clients? If not, would anyone mind giving me an idea of what knowledge I need to acquire to provide this support myself?
I’ve been using hostgator for my own sites for years now, and haven’t had a single issue that has required me to resort to technical support. So I’m really confused as to what kind of issues my clients may have that I’ll have to deal with if I go into this venture.
Thanks in advance!!
Etheos replied: Try InnoHosting, they have end support for resellers, someone submits a ticket and they will respond for any department you specify ( tech support, billing and sales) they have a great 24/7 support team too!
Either that or sign up for an Affiliate scheme with a host and earn commission every time you refer someone to them.
Most people offer 15-20% of sales but if you will be providing customers regularly then maybe a discussion with them, you might be able to get a better percentage
hostmyshop replied: If you choose a company that prides itself on customer service, then when a customer asks you a question, you can just ask your hoster and relay the message. This is what I do when I don’t know the answer. (though getting slightly better these days)
ldcdc replied: ezpzhosting also comes to mind for offering end user support. Just mentioning them, I can’t actually recommend the company because I’ve never been their customer.
If you don’t mind learning and supporting your customers, and they don’t mind a bit of tardiness when you’re asleep, you can still use a typical reseller account. There’s nothing wrong with asking your provider for help on how to do something. Most times users will need help with simple stuff, like setting up email accounts etc., because they’re new or otherwise insufficiently accustomed to the technical jargon.
That’s a good sign. It means you can find your own way through the control panel. WHM (the reseller side of cPanel) will be a new experience, but nothing to scare you away.
SirMarcel replied: +1 for Innohosting, they will take care of everything for you. Of course you will need to configure everything first, but from my experience they will guide you through.
